Matthew stafford dating

(AP Photo/Paul Sancya) — Paul Sancya It's been just 15 months since the Lions signed WLB De Andre Levy to an extension worth more than million and million guaranteed, a handsome reward for leading the league in tackles in 2014 and intercepting more passes than anyone not named Richard Sherman one season earlier. At that same time, August 2015, Matthew Stafford was coming off his second postseason appearance.

Will Stafford sustain his magic act, including game-winning drives in every Lions win, long enough to compel rookie GM Bob Quinn to strike that record deal?

(The Lions would love it if Levy, Slay and the rest of Teryl Austin's group would do more to avoid necessitating crunch-time heroics on a weekly basis.) Would a new Stafford deal be accompanied by one for coach Jim Caldwell, seemingly on the hot seat a month ago, and Stafford's spirit animal, Jim Bob Cooter?

Then there's Stafford, suddenly a dark horse MVP candidate and one of the NFL's very best, and perhaps most clutch, quarterbacks dating back to the second half of last season.

Rather than answering questions about turnovers or inconsistency, Stafford on Wednesday refuted a report that he'll be seeking the richest contract in NFL history, in excess of $25 million annually, when his current deal expires next offseason.

Despite the defense getting run over all night and his receivers apparently leaving their hands in Detroit, Stafford was in position to lead yet another fourth-quarter comeback, but he could not get anything going as the Seahawks pulled away with two late touchdowns.

Stafford once again seemed to struggle with the injured finger which appears to have derailed both his and the Lions' season. He was also squarely in the MVP discussion for much of the season. With Stafford set to hit free agency after 2017, the Lions will likely try to work out a long-term extension with their franchise quarterback this offseason. What a difference a year has made for two of the Lions most important players.Heck, what a difference a week has made for Detroit, which backed into first place in the NFC North while on bye as the rest of the division continued its shocking collapse.Born and raised in Mid-Southern Upstate New York, Stephen holds a master's degree in public communications.
